Actually many upperclass men forgot what‘s the mission statement at Xavier, just as I forgot. Until last semester, when I had to comment about it in the fall semester in freshmen seminar. To me many upperclassmen don’t even pay attention to it. Such as one person I asked said what are you talken about. Though when I told them what it means, they snickered and said so. I went on an asked a few other upperclass men, and they simply said it means nothing to them because it says just what it means and they barely remember it by heart. Everyone I asked if they could tell me what Xavier’s mission statement is; they said they didn’t know one word that consists of the mission statement. Although many of them didn’t know, I asked this one girl who knew what it means, and she said it means exactly what it says and I totally agree.

Funeral’s, I can’t forget
I really don’t like funerals. It makes me remember what I’m never going to see again. There’s a lot of screaming and crying, that makes it even worst. It’s like a trend once one person start crying then the next person start and continues; later becoming worst. When I go to a funeral I hate to view the body, because you will never see that person again on earth. What’s even worst, is when one of the relatives don’t want to see their family member take it away and bury the body in the ground. Although many people cry and scream, I thought a funeral is a form of celebration for the soul is going to a better place. The last funeral attended I could remember, It was this young girl about the same age as I am. I could rember her mom saying “why”, for a funeral is a form of celebration. I’m asking myself, why is she saying why, because the soul is now in heaven; theres no need to worry.
Do you think Katherine Drexel would be happy with Xavier today? why or why not Friday, Nov 21 2008
Miscellaneous 11:42 am
Katharine Mary Drexel is a saint, who lived from November,26 1858 to March,3 1955. She put up with tolerance of racial and tried to help them suceed. Katharine established the Sister’s of Blessed Sacrament.
I don’t think Saint Katherine Drexel will be happy with Xavier today. Because of the students failing. Not so much at the faculty of Xavier University, but the students. The grades in the last past couple of years has dropped tremendously. Xavier had a high reputation of being a strong and powerful college, producing many stundents of excellence. though as statistics show of Xavier University, too many students having dropping out of Xavier left and right. It has been one of the most drop outs so far. So like i said its not the falculty, but if someone would come up with a better idea of keeping these students around Xavier, because it is a very challenging universtiy. then maybe a better progress would make her happy.

My favorite Mardi Gras experience
When I first experienced mardi gras, I was only 3 years old. I can remember my dad putting up in the air trying to catch the beeds flying from the float. I noticed that I was in the mixed of a big crowd, but I didn’t actually dawn on me until I had been hit in the head with a coconut. My dad didn’t recognize it so he just kept on to what he was doing. As he had me on his shoulders. I never once thought about getting hit by a big coconut during the middle of a parade in broad daylight. Though I had been hit, that still did not stop me from continue on having fun. Me and all of my cousins was out there having a great time. It actually felt like it was my entire family, because of all the folks that were out there. People was from all different parts of the metropolitin region and I seen a lot of my friends. I never knew that New Orleans could get down like this. I just assume that people on floats would through beads here and there, but not never so many at a time. They even throw beads when the floats are stop. They never stop throwing, but the best part of all to me is when the bands start marching. When i was young, I would always look forward to seeing the marching 100. Which is the best band in the land. So all in all, even though I was hit in the head with a coconut and this caused a major head ache. I still manage to have fun and worry about the consequencies later.

How has poverty affected New Orleans and how it benefits New Orleans?
New Orleans level is hurting the city in many different ways. Such as the crime rate, education, politics, and the physical part of the city. First of all the crime rate is at a steady is not getting the sufficient amount of funding from the government to run things properly. Also the department is not run properly, which is causing the crime and violence to increase. Secondly the education is terrible; it all starts fro the teachers not getting paid the enough money. By the teachers not getting paid enough money the teachers don’t want to tech in New Orleans also the students are not learning properly because there is not enough materials in the school system. Third in New Orleans there is a big problem with the cause of hurricane Katrina and the slow process that’s taking place. This is leaving many vacant homws and a terrible road system. The benefits of New Orleans is that we have a party, loving city no matter what’s going wrong we still love to party. Also the tradition, foods, and the way our buildings are made.

What is my favorite class and why?
Since I was young I was always interested in biology. I guess the reason why I am so interested in biology is because I like explaining and know what they are made of. I like to see how the environment change and what is actually causing it to change. Most people thing that biology is challenging, school wise, and hard to understand, but if you can understand the basic concepts it will eventually flow into the next concept. In biology you have to understand the first concept before you can get to he next what make it so challenging. This is also my major in college. In which I’m studying biology pre-medicine., So I pretty much have to know the idea and like what I’m doing. Biology also get deeper than just that from learning of cells to dissecting. In which biology labs can be very interesting because you get to look at the living organisms in a cell through a microscope. So this is why biology is my favorite subject.
Who you think will be the next political leader and why? Friday, Oct 24 2008
Miscellaneous 10:47 am
Definitely a good political leader would look at great aspects that would help the country and become prosperous. And also revising on the taxes, looking beyond tax cuts, actually help people to find jobs, But to also benefit the country by changing the people and not only benefiting the rich but the poor as well. If you make less money annually, then your taxes should be reduced. Another aspect is that the supposedly “war” is still existing. America has done its job, which sums it all, and we the people are paying millions of dollars a day in Iraq, but can’t give millions of dollars to a city of its own country. A good political leader will take a look at global warming and analyze why the gas prices are so high. So who I think would be a good political leader of our country is Barack Obama.
“Why Did I Choose to Come to Xavier?”, Thursday, Oct 23 2008
Miscellaneous 2:26 pm
From “Why Did I Choose to Come to Xavier?”, I chose to attend Xavier University for many different reasons. On of the main reasons that i chose to come to Xavier; is that, I would like to earn a degree in Biology Pre-Med. Although, I have been wanting to work somewhere in the medical field; I’m still undecided in what practice I enjoy working in. For the longest I could not make up my mind about choosing dentistry, and now I’m undecided again. I’ve been thinking of pediatrics. Xavier is also a very well known college for medicine. most of their student who apply for med school, usually gets accepted. Another reason why I chose Xavier is because I’m from here, and that I wouldn’t have to travel so far. Also its a small university compared to other, and the teachers give more attention to prepare you for the next step.

“What are your Professional Plans and how does Xavier’s Mission Affect that?”, My professional plans are first to get a degree in biology Pre-Medicine and get accepted into dental school at a young age, so I can actually enjoy it. I’ve always wanted to be a dentist. Not knowing so much of what type of dentist i want to be, but may be an Orthodontist. Then start working to opening my dental office, so most of the money is coming into my pockets. I would definitely like to make a lot of money, and invest into another business; such as property, real estate, and restaurants.
