With learning that was known for being a  Katherine Drexel a philanthropist and a spiritual women i believe that she would be very proud of   Xavier University we are a campus that gives back to the community. Community service being one of  Xavier’s main priorities in all of its student lives. I think Katherine Drexel would appreciate the fact that giving back to the community builds character.Learning that Katherine Drexel being a women of strong faith was keen to educating and financially supporting schools im sure that she would appreciate all that Xavier does to make sure that we all get the best support and education they can give us.

 

What would Barack Obama’s father think of the book? Monday, Oct 12 2009

I think that Barack Obama’s father Barack Sr. would think of Barry’s book as being a accomplishment and a step forward in Barry’s growth. I think that Barack Sr. would have an outstanding amount of respect for his son because he did something that he probably could never do which his face his fears and suck up his pride and  taking the time to find himself. Barack Sr. was exposed to  banishment because of differences.I don’t believe the Barack Sr. would be upset or disappointed in his son at all nor have any negative out look on the stories that Barry told in “Dreams of my Father”.I think that Barack Sr.might even wish that he had the integrity to right such a novel.

My favorite class at Xavier has to be my Music Appreciation class.This class is my favorite class because it’s one of my most peaceful,straight forward class. In Music Appreciation we learn about music and how it evolved into what it is and what and when specific instruments were created and used. I feel like i relate to this class the most because i play an instrument so i love learning about music and how different sounds make a note and how a number of people can sound as if it were just one person. Music in general is a interesting topic in my favor.Today it can be hard to relate to this generation of music so learning the history of were most of these songs my generation came from  intrigues me.

 

How has poverty benefited New Orleans? How has it hurt New Orleans? Sunday, Oct 11 2009

I am not a resident of New Orleans so my input on the topic of poverty would not be as affective as a person who was born and raised here,but as far as i can see here it hasn’t benefited New Orleans in no type of way.I believe if it did benefit from it’s poverty rate then it would have some type of change or decrease in the crime and poverty.I believe that no matter where you are from what city or state in poverty affects you and every thing you do i believe in a sense its like a chain reaction. I think the poverty in New Orleans hurt the city because the tourist rates and property values tend to decrease in certain areas when the city is complete with poverty.

I have never really thought of the type of leadership skills that i posses honestly.Some of the skills i think i posses are being able to organize and communicate well with other i  believe that when i’m working in a group of having to play an important role in a group its important to talk and incorporate every ones opinions  count no matter what.Incouraging others to strive for nothing but the best is another skill that i think i may posses giving a “pep talk,” can really enlighten a person to do well and also think positive. Setting specific goals and objectives are leadership skills i believe i posses when in the right grouped situation

My professional plans are to of course complete my four years at Xavier, but while completing my four years prepare my self and take all  proper precautions in order for me  to get into medical school.I aspire to become a Pediatrician so completing my residency and all the other advancements to become a doctor. I believe that Xavier’s mission affects that because i’m sure in order for me to progress and go on to medical school the staff and fellow pupil are going to make sure that i am well set up for any obstacles that come my way and that will make sure they can help me to excel and achieve all goals.

 

Why i chose to attend Xavier Sunday, Oct 11 2009

I chose to attend Xavier because of my college advisor i didn’t originally want to be a doctor or a bio/pre-med major my freshman year of high school i wanted to be an architect that’s why i attended the Charter High School for Architecture and Design(CHAD). I had intentions of working at a local Architect firm, but as i matured and grew older and started to experience and look more in the career field i grew out  of it so i went from architect to lawyer by my junior year. The summer of my senior year was when i realized that i wanted to be a pediatrician because i volunteered at a hospital named Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and i grew a passion for working with kids and then me and my college advisor sat down and sorted all the school’s that he thought would be the best choice for me the decision was hard for me because i did not want to make the wrong choice but i looked more and more into Xavier and i felt comfort when i came to visit and from then on i had made my decision.
