I believe that Saint Katherine Drexel will be happy with Xavier university. Saint Katherine Drexel created this university during a time when African Americans were being discriminated against.  We weren’t offered equal opportunites to better our lives and were held back in life from striving forward. Saint Katherine Drexel will be very happy to see the many opportunits tat Xavier has to offer.  She would also be pleased to know of the current rankings of the university. Xavier is an academic based school. I think that she would be pleased to know that the school she founded and worked so hard to establish is doing well in current society.

What would Barack Obama’s father think about his book? Sunday, Oct 11 2009

I believe that Barack Obama’s father would be very proud of him for writing the book. The content of the book was very well stated. The book focused on racism amongst human kind in the world. He expressed his ideas very intellectually.  He discussed a lot of stuff things that have gone wrong in the world. I beleive that his father, Barack Obama Sr., would have been ecstatic to hear of his son’s accomplishments. He would have been very impressed with the life that he has led. Barack came from nothing but turned his nothing into something. He made wrong choices but in the end he turned around and mad elife better for him than it was before. His father would have been very proud o read and understand that his son made something of himself for the better. He would have been even more proud to know that he is constantly changing and helping the world.

What is your favorite class at Xavier and why? Sunday, Oct 11 2009

I actually have two favorite classes at Xavier. They are freshman seminar and Precalculus. These classes are actually fun to go to. I believe the teachers make the class.  My math teacher Dr. Jones is a funny man. He says different things to get us to stay focused on the lesson being taught. He makes various jokes and tells us what not to do. While studying math in class we learn a new life lesson everyday. I love the fact that he speaks his mind no matter what. He isnt afraid to hurt someone’s feelings even though he never tries to. He always gives us nothing less than, whats real, the truth about everything. He’s a very smart man who wants nothing more than to see his students succeed in life. My other favorite class to go to is freshman seminar. This is because Dr. Homan is hilarious. he too, like Dr. Jones, tells us the truth. We have open discussions in which he listens to our opinions. The class is designed to teach and tell us everything we need to know in order to succeed at Xavier University and Dr. Homan does just that. I believe that he knows how to conduct a class that will grab the students’ interest, because he is fairly young and remembers sitting behind the desk.

How has poverty benefited New Orleans? How has it hurt New Orleans? Sunday, Oct 11 2009

Poverty is a tough thing. Poverty has struck many places on this Earth. Its hard to live with, but by it being everywhere we turn you cant live without it. Poverty in New Orleans has hurt the city. A lot of people in New orleans suffer from poverty. Poverty is their excuse to commit crimes. Many people believe that there is no where else to turn to. The poverty level is high resulting in numerous cases of crime in the city. Poverty in the city has benefitted us also. Poverty has opened many doors to the citizens. It has brought many vendors, donors, celebrities, and benefactors here to help. After Hurricane Katrina struck and left New Orleans defeated many people from all around the wolrd came her to help and make sure that this great city could be what it once was. Many celerities came down and built houses for those who could rebuild for themselves. Poverty is being new deals and attracations to New Orleans as well.

What type of leadership skills do you posess? Sunday, Oct 11 2009

I’m the type of person that has different leadership skills. I am not one ot follow someone else. I always have my own mind. I listen to my self n I do what I want. I am easy to correct. I do not take correction hard. I do think that being corrected shows people that everyone is human and HIGHLY capable of making mistakes. I believe that I will succeed in life by being the way that I am, because if I wasnt then I’d accept a lot from people who dont know any better. A lot of times I am silent; though, I am not neccessarily a quiet person. I do not always speak out against someone and tell them when they are wrong because I think that some things people should figure out for themselves. I stay reserved and do what I have to do for me. If some one asks me my opinion I will clearly state it or if I think that someone is completely wrong then there’s nothing wrong with a little debate.

What are your professional plans and how does Xavier’s mission affect that? Sunday, Oct 11 2009

My professional plans are to become and engineer, business owner, accountant, and I also would like to buy and fix houses. I would like to be and environmental engineer someday. I believe that this would help the world in its efforts to slow down and correct thr global warming thats striking our world today.  I want to be a business owner and accountant so that I may be able to run a succesful business and know how to handle the money profitted. Learning new things like this will be something that I can pass on to my kids who ay also want to be business owners someday. Last but not least, I want to flip houses. I want to do this for the enjoyment. I know that sometimes the work to get everythign done will be extenuous but I believe that its worth it. I want to be able to make a profit from this project but I also would like to make housing cheaper and affordable for those who are not as fortunate as me. I beleieve in helping people in every way possible. I think that all of these ways will help me succeed in life. They will also be the highlights of my greatest accomplishments.

Why did you choose to come to Xavier? Sunday, Oct 11 2009

I chose to come to Xavier for two reasons. The first reason is because I am a native New Orleanian and my parents are fascinated with Xavier and they thought it would be best for me. My father likes to believe that I am still a little girl so he didn’t want me to leave. He constantly tells me that I can not grow up. The second reason is because Xavier is very good school especially for the sciences. Xavier ranks high in placing African Americans in medical school. When I first applied to Xavier medicine was my top priority and goal. Right as school started I decided to take a turn to engineering. I would like to be an environmental engineer. I think that being at Xavier will help me reach my goal to begin my career in engineering. I believe that Xavier will open doors for me when I begin to look for a job in my field. I believe that Xavier will teach me everything that I need to know in order to succeed.
