Interview a Xavier senior about his/her thoughts on Xavier’s misson and blog about what they say. Tuesday, Nov 24 2009
Week Nine 1:07 pm
Terry Richardson said, “I believe that Xavier’s mission statement is very accurate. Wtih the impact that it has on the greater New Orleans community and beyond. With Xavier providing each student with a learning enviroment where they can be succesful, and carry on the Xavier tradition in the workplace is awesome. Also, the diversity represented at Xavier is valuable for all students, faculty, and staff because we are able to gain a different vantage point of how the world is seen through other’s eyes. Lastly, with the university being Catholic, there is a certain standard that Xavier is held to, which is represented in the integrity of the school to its students, faculty, and staff “.
I think that Terry is absolutely correct. Xavier is living up to their mission statement.

Hello Dr. Privett, my name is LaTasha Henderson and as a part of my freshman seminar class we are suppose to email our most influential teacher. I just want to take the time out to thank you for being so dedicated to your work and understanding of your students. It is very nice that you take the time out of your schedule to hold review sessions aside from class time. You are very cordial in giving assistance when students need it. I enjoyed you being my professor for General Chemistry throughout the summer as well as this semester.

8.Research on Katharine Drexel… Sunday, Nov 22 2009
Week Eight 10:37 pm
Saint Katharine Drexel, Religious (Feast Day-March 3) Born in 1858, into a prominent Philadelphia family, Katharine became imbued with love for God and neighbor. She took an avid interest in the material and spiritual well-being of black and native Americans. She began by donating money but soon concluded that more was needed – the lacking ingredient was people. Katharine founded the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament for Indians and Colored People, whose members would work for the betterment of those they were called to serve. From the age of 33 until her death in 1955, she dedicated her life and a fortune of 20 million dollars to this work. In 1894, Mother Drexel took part in opening the first mission school for Indians, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Other schools quickly followed – for Native Americans west of the Mississippi River, and for the blacks in the southern part of the United States. In 1915 she also founded Xavier University in New Orleans.Kathrine Drexel would be of grate euphoric with xavier. In many ways xavier has grown to be one among hundreds, it has made name for itself. Kathrine Drexel would be so pround with all Xavier accomplishments and all these accomplishments show that Xavier is here to stay. Xavier’s quick recovery from Hurricane Kathrina shows what this institution stands for and Drexel would be grateful for that. After the horrible Kathrina, people thought that there would not be xavier again, but on the contrary Xavier bounced back to prove them wrong.

Foundress of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament 1891. Born on November 26, 1858, in Philadelphia. Katherine Drexel was the second daughter of Francis Anthony Drexel, and Hanna Langstroh. She founded Xavier University in 1925. Katherine Drexel built this university on morals, and the hope of higher learning for African-Americans. When i read about Katherine Drexel and her accomplishments, i think she would be proud. I think she would be happy that the university kept its name, and is still an African-American College. She would happy to see what Xavier students stand for, and she would be happy to see how many graduate. I also believe that she would be happy when she reads our mission statement, and see that Xavier students try to go by the mission statement.

Would St.Katharine Drexel be happy with Xavier today? Tuesday, Nov 10 2009
Week Eight 1:20 am
I think that St.Katharine Drexel would be very happy with Xavier today. She was a person who did whatever it took to give back to other people. Xavier is a school that’s all about giving. There are many events that go on in which Xavier is helping people by encouragement or lending a helping hand. If St.Katharine Drexel was here today, I’m sure she would thank President Norman C. Francis for continuing on with her dream. Xavier is a school that makes sure that people of different backgrounds have a chance to become all that he or she can be. When St. Katharine was on different missions, she didn’t look at a person’s color or nationality. She looked at the person as someone who needs a helping hand, and she was the one who helped them. Xavier is all about reaching out to people who are being labeled by the American society. I believe that St. Katharine Drexel would be proud of Xavier University.
